Funding and Investment Director - Pensions – Ref: KC15008

This purpose driven responsible investor are currently seeking a Funding and Investment Director to join their team. This dynamic position requires the ability to think critically, anticipate needs, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The role would suit a qualified accountant with a strong funding strategy, employer covenant and audit background. Strong relationship, consulting skills and pensions knowledge will also be highly beneficial.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Determine the funding principles for inclusion in the Funding Strategy Statement, including the covenant-related discount rate margins, subject to approval by the Board.

  • Work with the external Fund Actuary to oversee all aspects of the actuarial valuation

  • Determine the principles for inclusion in the Funding Risk Management Framework, subject to approval by the Board.

  • Support the Investment Committee in all aspects of its remit, including developing investment objectives, policies and strategy.

  • Work with the delegated investment manager to ensure that the implementation of the investment strategy is effective and well managed, including control of costs.

  • Oversee the activity of the Responsible Investment Manager on all aspects of the Company’s Responsible Investment policy, Climate Change policy, and net zero commitment.

  • Work with the delegated investment manager to represent the Company’s interests as a client and commission investment advice for the Investment Committee and Board as appropriate.

  • Review performance, risk levels and costs of the investment strategy on behalf of the Investment Committee and Board and ensure all investment reporting is timely and clear.

  • Determine the strategic priorities of the Employer Management Services team in the areas of operations, engagement, and employer risk.

  • Represent the Company’s best interests in negotiations and engagements with employers as necessary.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Excellent stakeholder relationship experience working with outsourced providers.

  • Application of problem solving and lateral thinking skills essential.

  • Effective communication skills including the ability to influence and build good working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.

  • A proactive, self-motivated team player with the ability to manage a high personal workload with multiple deadlines and continually strive for improvements in quality, efficiency and presentation.
