Operational Risk Analyst - £Exc + bens
Our client, a boutique Asset Manager is looking for an experienced Operational Risk Manager to sit within the broader Risk function and provide second line defence, ensuring that there is a comprehensive and objective view of all risks in the business operations, providing independent management assurance that the business is identifying and managing its risks adequately.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead the development and maintenance of the Operational Risk elements of the Risk Management Framework.
Provide consultation, guidance and support on operational risk management to the business.
Provide training and awareness on operational risk processes to the business.
Provide independent oversight, follow up and challenge to the business on operational risk matters, including:
- Risk & Control Self-Assessments.
- Identification, assessment and management of material risks in business as usual and projects.
- Action plans to address risks/issues (adequacy and effectiveness).
- Monitoring of Key Risk Indicators and trends
- Root cause analysis.
Work with the Senior Risk Manager on continuous enhancement of the risk tolerance framework, including risk tolerance statements and metrics.
Enhance, gather, monitor and report on operational risk MI, including risk exposure against tolerances.
Perform analysis on errors, incidents and breaches, and other operational risk data, and produce regular / ad hoc reporting / risk opinion for senior management and governance forums.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and in particular, develop working relationships with both first and second line of defence operational risk specialists at the Bank in order to align where possible, and to understand upcoming initiatives / developments.
Support the Head of Risk and Senior Risk Manager in producing regular reporting to various Committees, including Audit Risk and Compliance committees, Management Group, Board, and Credit Committee.
Deputise for the Senior Risk Manager when required and work with the Senior Risk Manager and Head of Risk on other aspects of risk management as the need arises.
Experience & Qualifications
Strong operational risk experience within the financial services industry, preferably within the wealth and asset management sector, and ideally with some experience of the Authorised Corporate Director sector.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of operational risk best practice.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and networking skills.
Excellent time management skills
Has the courage to make decisions and question existing procedures.
