Product Strategy & Development Manager £50-55K - Ref: PL12822
An international asset management business, which offers a full spectrum of investment solutions, strategies and funds to a diverse client range, is looking to further strengthen its Product group. This role will be part of the team responsible for designing and launching new funds. Working closely across the firm, including Investments, Distribution, Corporate Strategy & Marketing, you will be managing the development and design of market leading, competitively differentiated products.
Roles & Responsibilities
Managing the design and delivery of product initiatives to agreed timescales and budgets, keeping key stakeholders aware of progress and highlighting matters for resolution as appropriate
Ensuring all product developments (including launches, amendments and closures) are innovative and drive clear customer outcomes, whilst being delivered in a compliant and timely way
Managing the delivery of an AUM and revenue generating product proposition strategy that ensures the needs and expectations of identified customer groups are met, complies with industry regulations and mitigates any potential operational and legal risks
Maintaining a strong awareness of relevant market activity and working closely with Product colleagues to develop specific visions and strategies that contribute to the future strategic direction of the business.
Managing the definition, development and delivery of a strategy, ensuring products are launched and maintained according to the Product Development Model and the Product Lifecycle Management framework, so that the needs of the customers are met
Undertaking regular analysis of customer, industry and regulatory activity, considering where strategic changes may be required to existing products and propositions. Driving forward necessary enhancements, developments and changes, providing business cases where necessary to justify expenditure and thereby ensuring the maintenance of a market leading product proposition
Developing close working relationships throughout the business, resolving barriers to the achievement of agreed business critical objectives either internally or externally with clients or intermediaries.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience and knowledge of product and proposition design, of strategy and of client needs within an asset manager and/or advisor or consultancy
Knowledge of the international asset management industry including investor types, distributional channels, the competitor landscape and an excellent technical knowledge of investment products is essential
Strong technical knowledge of pooled product structures including UCITS and non-UCITS structures across a range of domiciles. Industry awareness of the changing regulatory framework, central clearing, forthcoming UCITS changes, etc. would be desirable
Previous experience in establishing, registering, operating and amending pooled funds in a variety of fund domiciles and jurisdictions
Commercial awareness of market dynamics, market evolution and of the competitive landscape to ensure products are well positioned
Outstanding stakeholder management skills, ensuring all business areas are bought into the vision and are aligned in working to a common goal
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate at a senior level, both internally and externally, and to successfully influence meetings that may have senior stakeholders present
Excellent presentation skills including the ability to articulate and convey concepts and ideas to a senior audience in a clear and compelling manner
Must be delivery focused, with the ability to work with energy and pace, with a high level of resilience
