Assistant Head of Investment Operations £Exc + bens & bonus

Our client, a boutique Asset Manager with circa $12Bil AUM is looking to add an additional resource to their Operations team. The role will support the Head of Investment Operations in leading the team to deliver an efficient, agile and cost-effective asset service offering to the Asset Management arm of the business, enabling it to scale over the coming years.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • This covers the following support services for Discretionary Mandated Portfolios, UCITS Funds and Managed Portfolio Services:

- Settlements (All Securities and Derivative types)

- Corporate Actions Administration (Capital & Income Cycles)

- All Reference Data Maintenance

- Asset & Cash Reconciliation Investigations

- Regulatory Reporting Exception Management

- New Instrument/Product development

- New Business on-boarding (Funds, Mandated Portfolios)

  • The position requires in-depth knowledge of Asset Servicing in Corporate Actions, Securities and Derivatives Settlement, Data maintenance, Reconciliations, Regulatory Reporting, and system implementation/upgrades in relation to the services performed within the department.

  • The aim of the role is to build a fully cross functional and scalable team whilst continually improving work processes to reduce costs, operational resilience and improve efficiency without compromising controls. This includes setting of objectives, in line with the Business Plans, and conducting performance reviews of your direct reports.

  • Oversight of all the daily workflows and collaboration with Investment Teams and other internal clients.

  • Administration of all Corporate Action Capital Events.

  • Administration of all Corporate Action Income (Dividend & Coupon) Events.

  • To ensure that you have a full understanding of the risks and controls associated with the processes that you take responsibility for and that you ensure such controls are exercised.

  • To be aware of regulatory and/or market developments applicable to your areas of responsibility.

Experience & Qualifications

You will be an experienced Line Manager in an active Asset Management Operations environment with the following key attributes: Experience in system implementation and upgrade cycles (working group participation, configuration to support workflow, business impact analysis, creation/performing UAT plans to support activities).

Global Securities & Derivative Settlements:

  • All types of Fixed Income, Equity and Derivatives

  • Global settlement cycles

  • General market practices

Corporate Action Capital & Income Event Administration:

  • All Equity & Debt related Elective and Non-Elective event types.

  • General market conventions

Reference Data Maintenance:

  • Securities & Derivative related products

  • Common reference data (SSI’s, Counterparties etc..)

Regulatory Reporting:

  • MIFIR Transaction Reporting

  • MIFIR Post Trade Transparency Reporting

  • SFTR

  • EMIR

Management skills:

  • Objective setting and performance reviews

  • Meeting facilitation

  • Effective team building

  • Risk awareness

  • Skills monitoring and development

  • Organisation skills

  • Creative thinking
