Operations Principal - £80,000 - £90,000

Our client, an independent, London-based, Private Investment Office managing approximately $1.5BN of capital for their private and institutional clients, is looking for an Operations Principal to join the team on a permanent basis. This is a varied role covering a mix of investment operations, compliance, finance and accounting – working with both their internal team and shared service providers.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Working closely with and reporting directly to the CIO and MD of the business.

  • Investment operations - Working with the shareholder group to oversee and manage a holistic upgrade to the operational backbone (e.g. custodial partners, reporting systems, client portal). This may involve analysis of areas of the process which could potentially be outsourced.

  • Ensuring that day to day operational issues are managed and resolved (e.g. booking of positions, liaison with custodian banks, managing capital calls and distributions).

  • Finance - Working with shared service providers to ensure accurate monthly and quarterly reporting of P&L, CF, BS.

  • Optimisation of cash balances.

  • Production of quarterly board / management packs.

  • Regulatory reporting (e.g. FCA quarterly AUM submissions).

  • Overseeing the quarterly client statement and billing process.

  • Working with external auditors to complete relevant filings.

  • Compliance - Working with shared service providers to ensure the shareholder group is kept abreast of all relevant changes in the compliance and regulatory landscape.

  • Ensuring key documents and processes are kept up to date and fit for purpose (e.g. client onboarding documentation, process manuals).

  • Ensuring staff members have completed relevant training and submitted filings where necessary (e.g. PA account dealing).

Experience & Qualifications

  • An energetic and entrepreneurial problem solver who enjoys making a machine work better.

  • Lateral thinker who can bring best in class solutions to a new organisation and effect change without causing unnecessary disruption.

  • Commercial and client-focused mindset.

  • First class academic background, up to degree level from a leading university.

  • Minimum A-level qualifications (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Economics or have done a quantitative degree.

  • 7-10 years of work experience in an operational role in a relevant field – e.g. a (multi) family office, endowment fund, asset manager or private bank.

  • High levels of attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
