Director - CIO Office - £Exc
Our client, a leading wealth advisory firm, is seeking an experienced and highly credible Director to join their Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Office. This pivotal role within the Investment Office will provide critical support to the CIO and act as a senior liaison between the Investment team, the Partnership, and external stakeholders. The successful individual will lead a team that drives the narrative for the Investment Management team and the CIO, ensuring effective communication of investment strategies and insights across multiple audiences, including internal teams, clients, committees, decision-making investment forums and the media (including broadcast media).
Roles & Responsibilities
The Director of the CIO Office is a pivotal role, providing critical support to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and serving as a senior link between the Investment team, the Partnership, and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include oversight of the CIO’s communications, input Into the Investment Division and Investment Management team strategy and importantly acting as the voice of the Partnership experience in the development of propositions and investment narratives.
The role is integral to Investment Management governance processes, ensuring high-quality oversight and contribution to key regulatory committees and investment forums.
Manage and lead a team of Investment Specialists and Product Specialists, that support to the wider Investment Management team.
Act as a primary spokesperson for the Investment Division at events and Partnership meetings, delivering insightful and engaging presentations.
Leading organising location meetings, conferences and all partnership interaction. In addition, specifically attending regional offices across the country representing Investment Management in-person.
Using the wider team, supporting the CIO in governance responsibilities across key regulatory committees and investment decision-making forums.
Act as a key stakeholder in the investment process, actively contributing to the strategic decision-making and governance forums.
The role requires a strong ability to influence, guide, and challenge investment narratives at senior levels.
Experience & Qualifications
This is a highly visible role, requiring frequent broadcast media appearances and participation in high-profile events to communicate investment strategies.
Proven success in broadcast or public-facing roles, with confidence in presenting complex investment themes to large or unfamiliar audiences.
Applicants must be comfortable representing the firm in the public domain and addressing diverse audiences with authority and composure.
Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding schedule involving extensive travel, public speaking, and regular engagements with media and stakeholders.
Experience as a core participant in investment decision-making processes, contributing to the development and delivery of high-impact strategies.
Highly adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
As a line manager you will be the main point of contact for your individual team(s) and responsible for the development and implementation of business continuity plans and procedures which will lead to a controlled recovery following an incident which jeopardises the company’s critical business operations.
Strong public presence and comfort in engaging with media, large audiences, and senior stakeholders.
Maintain a deep understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and regulatory developments to inform decision-making and communication.
Degree educated or equivalent.
Professional qualifications such as CFA or similar.
