Research Associate – Private Debt £55-65K + bonus & bens
Our client, a highly regarded Investment firm with circa $60Bil of AUM has an opening within their Private Debt Investment team for a Research Associate. You will primarily be responsible for supporting the team with sourcing new managers and performing due diligence on new investment ideas. You will be a key part of the asset class research team, whose primary goal is to deliver superior risk-adjusted performance over the long-term to clients.
Roles & Responsibilities
Evolve and clearly articulate the firm’s investment strategy and identify and evaluate attractive market niches.
Support the team with the articulation of ideal manager specifications, proprietary mandate parameters or direct investment approaches for target areas.
Develop relationships with Investment Managers, allocators and intermediaries to source investment opportunities, and conduct robust screens to identify the best teams within target strategies.
Help to perform rigorous due diligence of asset managers and other investment opportunities by working alongside other senior members of the asset class team.
Participate in key diligence activities including qualitative and quantitative analysis of a manager’s portfolio, performance, strategy and team. The diligence process concludes with a detailed presentation to our internal Investment Committee.
Own ongoing diligence and monitoring of investment manager and opportunities.
Support with advising internal client teams on the overarching strategy within asset classes, manager selection and portfolio construction.
Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience working within Investment or Asset Management, preferably in an external manager selection, direct investment or research based role.
Solid understanding of Private Debt as an asset class.
Strong due diligence skills and a demonstrable passion for investing.
A detail orientated approach with an appetite for tackling challenging and intricate projects.
Clear communication skills with the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
A dynamic, collaborative and entrepreneurial approach to work and comfortable working in a fast paced and high energy environment.
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and a strong academic record.
A highly analytical approach to tasks with a proactive and motivated work ethic.
Completed, or the appetite to study towards, CFA qualifications.
